As an PGSEM aspirant i think i get an fair idea about the pros and cons of PGSEM course. Because of lack of group interaction among fellow people the course is missing an important part of learning and thus would rank lower compared to executive courses. I am also kind of confused what is the real purpose of PGSEM ? Since IIMB also has a executive program. May be IIMB should consider merging EPGP and PGSEM into one course and relax the experience criteria of 7 years, then PGSEM would truly become a competitive course.

Thanks
SusantaSusantanoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17034448.post-35817218959161237612008-11-13T12:43:00.000+05:302008-11-13T12:43:00.000+05:30Nice thoughts . In this aspect, I like the execute MBA in the West, where the entrace criteria is not based on GMAT score but based on years of experience etc. I don't feel the course brand will get diluted with this new entrace criteria.

Anurag Vermaanuverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00100410061952752224noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17034448.post-14136719576069751942008-01-05T22:23:00.000+05:302008-01-05T22:23:00.000+05:30http://www.freemocks.comshows no Service error on ...http://www.freemocks.com
shows no Service error on page "SERVICE UNAVAILABLE".gudivesthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16933035203209474536noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17034448.post-34297360321742541322008-01-03T18:16:00.000+05:302008-01-03T18:16:00.000+05:30stock termshttp://www.freemocks.com/stockterms.htm...stock terms
http://www.freemocks.com/stockterms.html

quant guru quant fundamentals quantitative aptitute Number systems Factors, Multiples, HCF & LCM, Highest power dividing a number, Remainder Algebra Equation & inequalities, Integral solutions to a given equation, Modulus, Modulus & inequality, General fundas Progression
Geometry Set Theory
http://www.freemocks.com/quantguru.html

VEDIC MATHS , vedic mthematics

http://www.freemocks.com/vedicmaths.html

cat dose ,ten a day , 10 a day
http://www.freemocks.com/catdose1.html

books for mba, books for cat, books for IIM
http://www.freemocks.com/mustread.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17034448.post-70723762309174202192008-01-03T18:13:00.000+05:302008-01-03T18:13:00.000+05:30stock termshttp://www.freemocks.com/stockterms.htm...stock terms
http://www.freemocks.com/stockterms.html

quant guru quant fundamentals quantitative aptitute Number systems Factors, Multiples, HCF & LCM, Highest power dividing a number, Remainder Algebra Equation & inequalities, Integral solutions to a given equation, Modulus, Modulus & inequality, General fundas Progression
Geometry Set Theory
http://www.freemocks.com/quantguru.html

VEDIC MATHS , vedic mthematics

http://www.freemocks.com/vedicmaths.html

cat dose ,ten a day , 10 a day
http://www.freemocks.com/catdose1.html

books for mba, books for cat, books for IIM
http://www.freemocks.com/mustread.htmlAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17034448.post-24282734947135384332007-12-11T07:32:00.000+05:302007-12-11T07:32:00.000+05:30The lower level needs of PGSEM-ers need to be sati...The lower level needs of PGSEM-ers need to be satified before they would engage into something that would be of interest to the industry, country, humanity etc :-)

When people come with hopes of easily becoming an investment banker and then see that it is first of all not so easy and second, the pay would be lesser than their IT salary, that is where people lose interest.

If you see people who are active in networking blah blah, they are the ones who came into the course just for the 'experience of an MBA' and probably continue in IT itself than anything else.

While most people are interested in only their short term personal gains, PGSEM offers a long term personal and public gain. As a PGSEM alumni, would definitely like to see this change for better. However, the key question is what is really inhibiting this? Is it just less or no time spent bumping into each other during the course duration or perhaps a lack of common interest or goal ? Sure hours spent together (in campus) is important, but if one were to go with the success of virtual communities (say open source projects where folks have never really met each other ), it is more of the common interest that acts as the booster rocket. PGSEM community perhaps needs to figure out, what is it that is common besides of course the learnings from the class sessions, something that would last much beyond the time spent at the campus. Here is a quick core dump, sort of my 2 cents (feel free to take a stab at them)

PGSEM as a course offering started with the vision of developing competent managers out of techies. While it has definitely done so for few, there are many others out there who can benefit. Can this be the common goal beyond the campus? How about setting up focused groups to handle particular aspects or pain points of the industry. Alumni can play a significant role here and of course this should in my mind boost networking and lack of awareness in the industry that one seems to encounter.

Reminds me last weekend happened to attend Barcamp5 at IIMB campus. There was one interesting topic thrown up about weekend entrepreneurship. Couldn't attend the session but thought it is a cool thing to consider for those raring to go and do something and yet held back for whatever reason. A collective approach can actually throw up something very satisfyingSandeephttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17782959987457643162noreply@blogger.com
